Sometimes we have to give ourselves a swift kick in the rump and focus on getting our work done. Thankfully there are plenty of tools to help us turn ourselves into productive worker bees?? such as an app which blackmails us by threatening to post embarrassing photos to Facebook if we don't accomplish our goals.
Yes, such an app really exists.
The Next Web's Harrison Weber reports that it's called Aherk! and that it is described as offering "goal-oriented self-blackmail."
To use it, all you need to do is authorize Aherk! to access your Facebook account, define your goals, set some deadlines, and "put your [rear] on the line" by uploading an embarrassing or compromising photo.?Once the deadline comes around, Aherk! will ask your Facebook friends to vote on whether you've achieved your goal or not.?
If you get things accomplished and your friends vote accordingly, you're safe from humiliation. But if you failed to meet your goal?? or if your friends sabotage the vote?? you're doomed and Aherk! will post the image you uploaded when you set your goal.
Not exactly a perfect motivation tool, right??
As I mentioned, your friends could be cruel and cast votes which will lead to your humiliation, or perhaps you might not meet your goal because you suddenly decided to run for an important political office on a whim. Either way, leaving potentially damaging, humiliating or compromising images in the hands of any third?party is risky.
